Anybody get pregnant while breastfeeding? (Revised)

And I mean, while EXCLUSIVELY breastfeeding, NO supplementing, nursing through the night, without having your period return. I asked this earlier and was misunderstood. I know it's POSSIBLE....And I know that you typically ovulate before your period comes back...But I wanted to hear from personal experience....

  • I used breastfeeding as BC for 1 year :) successfully. I did get pregnant while breastfeeding, but my daughter was 19 months old and it obviously wasn't exclusive by then! :)

  • I'm not currently having sex, but I have ovulated every month since the end of Nov and my daughter was born in Oct. So if I was having unprotected sex I'm pretty sure I'd be pregnant by now. *shudder*

  • My cousin has two babies conceived while exclusively breastfeeding.

She says, "I'm just super fertile to be able to get pregnant while on birth control."

    Yeah, she's an idiot.

  • MOST women will not get PG while nursing without having at least one period. if you can answer yes to the following three* questions, your risk of pregnancy is less than two percent. 1. Is your infant less than six months old? 2. Are you amenorrheic, that is, are your menstrual periods absent? 3. Is your baby breastfeeding around the clock without receiving other foods, beverages or pacifiers? Lots of really good articles on BF and fertility at

  • With my first, I got my period at 8 months (exclusively nursing plus solids). My DH and I discussed if we should start using protection at that time. We decided not to. I got PG the next month. When I didn't get my period again I really thought it was because baby had started nursing all night long at about 8 mos, and was for a couple of months. But, I was PG :-)
