what do you think?

i personally think that instead of our country worrying about feeding other countries we need to think of the homeless and hungry children men and women here in our country. im not saying that other countries shouldnt be helped but i believe we should put a little more effort into fixing and helping our own country as well as others. do you agree? or what are your thoughts about it?

  • Yes, I agree. We have soooooooo many problems here at home and it seems like the more problems we have the more money goes overseas. There are people that don't want us to be the world police so we should not be the world provider either. Although the way things are going we are going to start needing handouts ourselves from other countries.

  • I agree with you. There are so many charities and organizations out there.

    http://www.charitynavigator.org/index.cfm?bay=content.view&cpid=48

This is a great website that helps you decide what charities to give to. I only ever donate to charities where no less than %85 go directly to those in need and not in some charity heads pocket.

There's nothing wrong with helping people all over the world though if that's what you want to do with your money.

  • oh i agree you can put your money where ever you want, but i personally want mine to help our own country, and i was so afriad to donate for the longest time cause i couldnt find any charities that gave most of the money to those in need. it usually went to the people who run the charity and thats not right in my eyes. also foodnet work has a thing theyre asking people to hold bake sales in their communities to help feed americas hungry children, im gonna look into that cause i love baking lol. also if youre interested in helping the animal shelters and such and you have pets rachael ray has a pet food line and 100% of her proceeds goes to helping animals and animal shelters....which i love cause im also an animal lover lol.

  • When we as Americans reach out to other nations, we are doing our part to build new generations of people that see America in a positive light. When Americans give to countries where women are oppressed, we are uplifting the women and girls that will in turn teach their children to fight for equality. When we support rescue efforts, food shipments, medical care; we are setting an example of world-wide good will for other nations to follow.

And, in a lot of cases, the American dollar (while weaker than some currencies) goes a lot further in other nations than it does here. What we spend on one meal at McDonald's could keep a family supplied with food for a month! For what we spend on a car payment, we could supply a family with a cow that could provide them with milk and calves for years to come. With what we spend on a vacation, we could send a whole village of children to school.

    We can make a difference!

  • i understand that america does all that, but what about the children in our country going to bed everynight hungry cause mommy and daddy didnt have enough money to buy food and pay all the bills? what about the families living on the streets? what about americas hungry people, and homeless people? im not saying we shouldnt help out other countries, but seriously, why cant we help out our own as well? imagine sending your child to bed with no food, and hearing them say mommy im hungry? or if you cant pay the bills and you and your family are freezing cold in the winter or having to take cold showers or living in the dark cause you couldnt pay the bills?i just think if we have so much to give then why not give it to our own as well. i understand other countries have the same problems and sometimes more. but america needs the help too. so why not help your own country out as well?

  • Better talk to Obama about this. He did pledge $50 billion dollars to the UN to fight world poverty.
