Is my baby learning quicker?

Is my baby learning quicker than most babies? She just turned 19 months yesterday. She can say LOTS of words (mommy, daddy, papa, mamaw, sissy, baby, poop (lol), diaper even, and says some two and three word sentences(for ex. "I love you"). She also says these words VERY well. She even says some words better than my four year old! She is VERY smart. She knows if we say something like.. chocolate she'll walk over to the desk and point to it. If we put meds in her drink she knows by the color. She helps me dress her, also. If we ask her where someone is "wheres mamaw?" she'll point to her! Do you think she's advanced or just regular?I know people say their kid is the smartest, i'm not one of those people.. but I really think she is advanced. Her dad is also advanced and skipped two grades in school. and her 13 year old sister makes straight a's.

  • xaviersmamacita.. maybe I've just been around too many delayed kids.. My brother seems to think his kid is a friggin' genius.. but he really is kinda slow i think. And my middle daughter does have delays.. so i guess i'm used to the delays more than the on time kids, lol..

  • She's doing everything she should be doing at her age.

That is according to all the evaluators and therapists who have been here with my kids. What you've described, and where they've told me the "average" kid is for different ages, sounds right on track!!

  • Pretty normal. All kids develope differently. More defined words may be offset by slower skills such as drinking form a cup. Overall, I think most kids are about the same when you look at the big picture.
