Are you open to an International Reserve Currency?

As if the dollar didn't have enough problems, Timothy Geithner took China's bait yesterday and said he was "quite open" to its suggestion this week to displace the greenback with an "international reserve currency." The dollar promptly fell and stocks followed, before the Treasury Secretary re-emerged to say "the dollar remains the world's dominant reserve currency. I think that's likely to continue for a long time." See WSJ

  • He had no business opening his mouth, because if he had listened to what China actually said, they said that they were helping us with out debt this time, for the LAST time, and that if it did end up happening again then they would require us to change to an international currency.

  • When Obama or Geithner speak the stock market tanks seems they both should shut up and get a clue. They should do the right thing and talk less.
