Broken Tibia and Fibia?

OK so my son who thinks he is Tony Hawk, broke both the lower leg bones. They are broken going into the growth plate. We have to wait for some of the swelling to go down before we can cast for obvious reasons but they are also talking about surgery if the swelling pushes the bones further out of line...anyone have any prior testosterone survival stories on this sort of thing? Did your son or LO have to have surgery?

Thanks gals

  • My hubby broke his lower tib and fib in 7 places and shattered the ankle while in the Army doing a jump... He had to have surgery to put hardware in ... and its been really bad since then. Ask lots of questions and get VERY clear answers about the plan for pain and how long a typical healing time is... Tibia factures are VERY prone to NOT healing, and not all docs are willing to acknowledge it as a non-union after proper casting and surgery has been done. This is obviously very very painful for the patient.
Please let me know if he has to have surgery or not. Ill be praying that he doesnt.. And Good luck! God Bless him.

  • Thank you for your prayers! We very much appreciate them. We finally got a cast today and the second set of X rays looked good. (might be a little something wrong up towards the knee but we aren't sure) So far no surgery at this point. In 4 weeks we should know by the 3rd set of films.

Hey thanks for your answer and tell your HUBBY thanks and God bless for his bravery and service to this great Country. Because of men and women like your hubby, my family sleeps well at night.

    God Bless
