Parsnips

Has anyone ever tried Parsnips ?? I want to try them but not sure how to cook them or what's the best way to cook them...

  • I LOVE them ! Cook them like a carrot, only slightly tougher. Wash them and peel like a carrot - or don't peel (I don't peel carrots OR parsnips). Cook, slice and serve with oil / butter and salt.

    They can be steamed or boiled soft and then mashed. They are great sliced thin, sprayed or tossed with olive oil and baked soft - by themselves or as part of a medley of roasting vegetables.

    A really special treat is parsnip CHIPS! Sometimes they are part of a bag of mixed vegetable chips, but occasionally you actually find a bag of only-parsnip chips. Mmmm !

  • They taste like spicy carrots. lol Not spicy hot...hrm. They taste "spicy" in the way that carnations smell "spicy" if that makes any sense.

    Mash 'em with butter or cut them into chunks and roast them with a little salt and olive oil. *drools*
