  • We have a family of 7 & we spend about 175 every 2 weeks, with the exception to buying milk every 4 days or so. We cook simple meals & make them large to last for the week or longer. Try Chilli, Beef Stew, & etc. over Rice, w/ cornbread or italian bread. Place extra stews, soups, or chilli into freezer bags or small portions & freeze them to keep fresh & to cook the next day or next week! Great meals durig the winter. You can do the same with Spaghetti, & various pasta meals. Most meals you can put into smaller single portions to cook or warm up later. Sandwhiches are great too, like subs with baked chips, salads w/ lunch meat cut up in it to fill you since protein is a filler. Be creative & remember rice & bread fills you up! As for meat I know in some places I had client who would have a whole cow cut up to last them through the year, it would cost about 600-700 but divide that by 12 & compare what you spend monthly anyway for beef, chickken, fish & etc.

  • we are a family of five and some weeks are more than others, but I would say around $100 on a more heavy week for food.... other weeks between 80 and 90 dollars

  • We spend about $600/month. That is with NO meat,. a lot of produce and then some staples to stock up in case of an emergency (bottled water, dried foods like rice, cereals). So, if we were to eat it all, I would say about $100-$120/week.

  • We are a family of 6, using coupons I spend around $70-$80/week, but get a whole lot more. I make my menu depending on what is on sale. We get our bread from the bakery thrift store.
