Any home remedies for snake bite on a dog?

My dog got bitten by a copperhead on the nose last night. He swelled up and felt bad but this morning is much better. Wondered if any of you knew any home remedies that would make him more comfortable if this happens again which it more than likely will.

  • You could always call a vet and ASK them. If the dog is alive today then he's probally gonna be fine. A Copperhead dosnt always get the venom injected.

  • Call poison center. Go directly to vet. Don't waste time on these forums when snakes are involved.

  • No kidding! My 2 Boxer dogs were bit and we rushed them to the vet as thier breathing was cut off from swealing and thier skin was slufing off. It was horriable and it was a cooper head. Ps they killed the snake...lol

  • i hope he is still alive and ok today. in the summertime feed your dogs bacon grease in their food on a weekly basis. if they get bit feed them baby aspirin as much as 5-6 if the dog is big.
we had a husky die from a rattlesnake bite about 3 yrs ago, and everyone told me this after he died. i wish i had known before hand.
the bacon grease, or beef fat is supposed to add additional fat layers in their skin and reduces how much of the venom actually spreads thru the body. i guess it isolates it.
    how's he doing today??

  • I had a boston terrier that gotten bit by a rattlesnack in the lip. His face swollen up and he had a huge lump on his neck. It took a few days for the swelling to go down and then the lump on his neck disappeared within a week and he was back to his self. Never took him to the vet or anything.
