Help! Raw Chicken!

My almost 3 year old just stuck her hand in raw ground chicken...and then put her hand in her mouth. I washed her hands, but what do I do for her mouth??? I'm calling the on-call Dr. for our Dr. office, but no one is answering. HELP!

  • Keep an eye on her. More than likely she's going to be fine. Not much to be done about it now, anyway. If the chicken was bad, she's already infected.

Raw/not completely cooked chicken doesn't ALWAYS make one sick.

  • rinse her mouth out with soap anti-bacteria soap, Just don't let her swallow it. Until you can get ahold of her pedi or take her to the E.R.

  • I agree with TiccledBlue. Don't drive yourself crazy. She has probably put much worse in her mouth without you knowing it anyway. If she gets stomach cramps or diarrhea then you may want to talk to her doctor but at this point there's not much to be done. Once it was in her mouth it was too late.

    Good luck.
