  • Good idea taking him to the doctor. He may be just playing hard. A sign of diabetes is thirst. I hope your son is going threw a growth spurt and just playing hard. Good luck!

  • keep the drs. appt.
The other thing I do is to keep full water bottle in the fridge. They each have 2 so they can just go get a bottle when they get thirsty and don't drive me insane.
But that said... I'd def. keep the dr. appt.

  • thats one of the ways i knew my son was a diabetic. that and peeing every few minutes. one sign is fruity breath too. i thought he has a uti.
your doc can do a very simple test and know pretty quick. tiny finger poke.

  • My 4yr old daughter also drinks a lot. It just worse after I had her sister because now every time one of us are feeding the baby she says "Can I have something to drink" and we'll tell her to wait until we are done with her sister and she just goes crazy. Its like she wants to drink 24/7. When we tell her to wait for a few minutes she says " but I'm starving I need something to drink now."

  • Baby drinks 'cuz momma cries?

Answer by HollyLucination at 11:40 PM on Mar. 29, 2009

  • My son is 6 & is going through this. I wasn't worried because the drinking was going along with the eating & he always eats & drinks a lot before a growth spurt. We got a water cooler & taught the kids to use it & so now they don't drive me nuts but can get their own water.
