Are seasonal allergies contagious?

I have always thought they weren't, but ever since I met my DH who suffers from terrible seasonal allergies (starting early spring every year), it seems like everyone at home also do. My babies and I now have the sniffles and itchy sneezes , so I am beginning to think I start taking better precautions.

So am I right about this?

  • No, they are not contagious. However, our allergies do break down our immune system when they are acting up. It could be he is catching a cold and passing it along to your family. But allergies are not contagious.

  • They can be hereditary, but not contagious. You can get them at any point in your life.

  • No, they are not contagious. However they can run in families- my sons are susceptible because I have them, but they didn't catch them from me, they inherited the tendency. My husband is now coming down with them, but he didn't catch them from me either. He's lived in this area for so long that he's developed a sensitivity to pollens and grasses, too.

  • No, not contagious but they do run in families, everyone is my moms family have some kind of seasonal allergy, as do I and my son. I am miserable for about 10 months out of the year. Zyrtec D is my best friend. That is the only thing that works for me and my son.

  • Nah, seasonal allergies don't go from person to person. You may just have the common cold (I know, it sucks but you'll live : ) )
