  • We sit down the night before pay day and make out the menu. Hubby and I each pick 4 meals and the kids each pick 3, and we go through the list, and I put any ingredients I don't have on my grocery list. My grocery list has gotten shorter by about a third, and we don't have as much wasted food. We don't make the list day specific, either. For example we don't HAVE to have the Buffalo Chicken Sandwiches my husband picked on Sunday, and the Roast my daughter picked on Monday and so forth. We have the list and pick what sounds good for that night off the list.

  • a typical menu may be something like this......
    Sun. Ham Dinner
Mon . Chicken breast (oven baked)
Tues. use up any left over ham in scalloped potatoes
Wed. use left over chicken to top off a tossed salad
Thurs. Brown some hamburg make tacos
Fri. use the left over burger for Spaghetti
Sat YO-YO night (Your On Your Own, except of course the little ones that are too young to fix their own meals) This just means we use up and eat any left overs, No left overs? I always have back up frozen pizza in the freezer just in case......

    Sun. Pot roast
    Mon Chicken breast (south western)
Tues Fajitas from left over pot roast
Wed. Chicken wraps from left over chicken
Thurs Clean out the fridge day
    Fri eat out
    Sat. Hot dogs w/FF

I try to make sure I have a list of back up plans just in case the kids bring a friend or 2 home on a left over night. . It is much easier to shop and to make the meal when
