What are capers?

I was wondering what are capers...used in cooking?

  • The caper (Capparis spinosa L.) is a perennial spiny bush that bears rounded, fleshy leaves and big white to pinkish-white flowers. A caper is also the pickled bud of this plant.

  • Little green balls in a jar that you buy in the grocery store and Italians use it in different salads is all I know.....LOL

  • Bmat is right. They are often served with fish or seafood, in salads and Mediterranean cooking. I love them and throw them in everything.
