  • fruit. If you cant afford to buy fresh all the time, buy canned (in its own juices) and rinse it before giving it to them. A Mix of peaches, pears, and pineapple is good! My kids love it, fruit is like candy to them.
You can make up veggie trays for really inexpensive and have those in the fridge for the kids to just grab a small plate of what they want. Broccoli, carrots, radishes, tomato slices... make a quick ranch out of fat free sour cream and ranch mix- delish and good for them.
Whole wheat crackers, sugar free jello cups, fat free pudding (obviously these are only once and awhile treats!)
Popcorn which you pop yourself with an air popper or on the stove top.. you can store it in ziplock bags for a week.
You can make them "trail mix" using some cereal like cheerios, some peanuts, and some raisins.. you can toss in goldfish and other things too.. then bag them up in "snack bags" for a quick treat on the go.

  • Yes those are all good ideas. My son also likes a tortilla cheese roll up, carrot sticks, fruit and cereal bars (the Nutri Grain ones), cereal with milk, applesauce, and fruits for snacks. For lunch, he's a big fan of the ol' PB & J. For dinner he will eat whatever we are eating -- a lean protein, veggies, rice or pasta, etc. My son is 2 1/2.
