Recall of pistachios

While companies are still recalling products with contaminated peanuts, now they are recalling pisatchios also. When you hear of recalls on a certain food, do you completely stop eating it? We don't eat anything with peanuts other than our Simply Jif brand peanut butter, and we surely won't be eating any pistachios now either.

  • Yes. Food safety in the US is questionable at best. The consumer needs to look out for number one until food regulations improve.

  • I do. I quit cold till we get an "ALL CLEAR". I am still having a hard time understanding though how it even got that far? Honestly? Who is working at these places with thier eyes closed?

  • We had already been eating some before the recall so we didnt toss them. Still eating them because truthfully if this bag were contaminated, we'd be sick already.

  • The problem with quitting entirely is that not all pistachios go through that plant. Small local companies are getting hurt. There is a company in NM that grows, packages and distributes their own; I'll buy their pistachios. I still buy peanut butter and peanut products. *shrug* I check the recalls, but I'm just not that paranoid.

  • I agree, tetona. I used to think I was doing good buying foods only from the USA but still some of the things I have purchased got recalled anyway.

  • It's only a couple small places that have some potentially bad nuts. 99% of them are fine. Buy the big bag of Planters at Target. They are good for you and safe to eat.
