How long does it take for an ear hole to close up?

My daughter's earring fell out in her sleep almost two weeks ago, and i didn't find the backing until just the other day. I just tried putting it back in her ear, but couldn't get the earring to go all the way through. IDK if i just wasn't pushing hard enough, or if i was getting it stuck (like not pushing it through the whole right), or what?! Its never fallen out before, and we have never changed them... cause i was scared of this exact thing... she kept squirming and crying! How long does it take for a toddler's ears to close up?? Any advice for getting it back in? Thanks ladies!

  • i think it kind of depends on how long she had the earrings in before they fell out. because if she just got them pierced they're gonna close up faster where as if she had them in for a while it would take a while to close up

  • If it doesn't gently slide in, do NOT push. You'll just hurt her. It could have already tightened up.

  • She got them done right before she was 6 months old, and she is now 20 months... so they have been in (never taken out at all) for like 14 months.
