high fever, rash, runny nose

My 10 month old dd has had a fever rectally at 101.5 for 2 days (do you add a degree in the morning?) and had a rash all over her belly yesterday which is almost gone today. She also has a constant runny nose and now a slight cough. Im trying to decide if she should go the dr or should i just keep up with the motrin for the day? She also has cried almost all night for the past 2 nights.

  • I was a ped nurse for a year then went to geriatrics but I was always told, and always told the moms on the phone a temp over 101 for more than 24, come in, a fever with rash come in asap. Rash with fever needs to be seen. Call the ped this am. Hope she feels better.

  • Any fever present for over 24 hours should be checked out by a ped. You only add a degree if you have taken the temp. axillary..under the armpit. Sounds as though she has an URI, Upper Resp. infection.

  • Totally agree...go to the dr. - can't hurt, will probably help - and then take a nap with her this afternoon! Naps are totally underrated...
