So what SHOULD Obama have gotten the Queen?

I've been hearing criticism of President Obama's gift to Queen Elizabeth II of an engraved video iPod, loaded with--among other things--videos of her 2007 visit to Jamestown (for their 400th anniversary).

I have heard--but can't verify--that videos of his inaguration were also on the iPod. I've also heard that the Queen asked for an iPod, that she had an audio one but not a video one.

Also, she was given a rare Rodgers and Hammerstein songbook, signed by Richard Rodgers. The Queen is a fan of Rodgers and Hammerstein.

Do you all think this was an appropriate gift? And if not, what should President Obama have given the Queen?

  • i think I don't care what he gave her.. If she wanted an Ipod then sure I guess. Maybe he should have gave her... a bag of pop corn so she can sit back and watch him as president.

  • I think I heard on the news that she already has an iPod, but really, what do you give a queen? I'm just glad he didn't give her a CD of Queen. I like her gift back to them though, wasn't it autographed pictures of her highness? Ha ha ha. Love it.

  • He could have gotten her anything, something from an upcoming American Artisan, a handmade item for her like a shawl and matching gloves she wears them often made from organic substances like angora or premium cotton or sherpa, something handmade from a Hawaiin artisan that is one of a kind, premium California wines, some handmade organic skin and bath products from our many small businesses in a large gift basket with flowers, she still rides so something equestrian like handmade leather gloves with a special embroidery from him, a beautful hat desingned by an upcoming designer Michelle likes, anything but an ipod. How about an apology for letting the friendship between the two countries go to sh-- so quickly and a promise to pull his head out of his a-- for the next 4 years.
