Where do I get started with homeschooling? I live in NC.

My daughter will be 7 in Dec. and she is in school this year. I am so sick and tired of all the illness and worrying about head lice.. I am really wanting to homeschool her next year but I don,t know where I need to get started.. i do not know anyone that homeschools and I don.t wanna get in trouble not making her attend school next year. I have looked online and found a few sites but I need someone to say here is the place you need to look. And does anyone konw about where I can get the curriculum? Thanks to all. Nuskirt

  • go to the website of North Carolinians for Home Education (NCHE) and it should tell you how to start. I think you have to first write an intent to homeschool, but all that should be on the website.
If you live near Winston Salem, the homeschooler's conference is held during May. Wonderful place to get any curriculum you would want. People come from all over the state, because it is such a big affair. Would highly reccommend this if you can make it. I used Abeka my first year, but now i just use what I like and looks good to me and my son. Saxon Math is great after 3rd grade. message me if you have specific questions.

  • I have been homeschooling my 2 boys, ages 8 and 10, for over 3 years now and was the best decision I EVER made. If you are looking for some good curriculum Abeka (abeka.com) it is christian based curriculum.
I don't use any particular curriculum, I am an earth based homeschooling and I include waldorf and earthschooling throughout our learning. (Neo Humanism is also included if interested)

Here are a few links: http://earthschooling.com and http://enkieducation.org

Enki education is a holistic based education great for starters.

If you would like to see some of what my boys do you are more than welcome to visit my blog at : http://sherrrismadblabberblog.blogspot.com and if you would like to discuss anything further than DM me anytime.

    Good luck!
