  • Costco for us...we don't support Walmart. And we buy paper goods, diapers, wipes, meat/poultry/fish, frozen veggies and fruit, some cleaning products, snacks, fresh fruits/veggies....we save a ton of money! And I eat healthier because I can buy the huge bags of fruit/veggies and I'm not willing to buy the huge bag of fatty snacks.
You can get a guest past to either one of them and check out it. Go During the week before people get off work if you dont like crowds. Go Saturday and Sunday if you want lots of samples.

  • We always get our steaks from Sams. Filet Mignon at Sam's is $9.95/lb. At my local grocery store filet's are $19 or more per lb.. We also get food for entertaining there, whether it's birthday party's for the kids or dinner parties. They have more of a variety of prepared appetizers. Sometimes they have cute kids clothes too. Sometimes tho, the better value is at the grocery store....just depends on what you are buying.

  • Wow. Well, cheaper at Sams or not, I won't be getting Filet Mignon at Costco any time soon. Do you know about any well....pantry or paper goods? Is it cheaper to buy it in bulk?

  • Wholesale outlets are really great for things in bulk that you KNOW you are going to use, like toilet paper, paper towels, bars of soap, razors, etc. We are just two people, so I don't buy a lot of grocery items. I don't need to get the "double" 18 ct eggs or a "crate" of peaches. But if you have a big family or even a big freezer you can stock with meat, you can save a lot of money in the long run. You have to be strategic in shopping, since your checkout bill will still be pretty high, so you have to make it count.

  • I have a very small cleaning business, just me but I clean about 20 houses a month, do you have any idea what that adds up to in Swiffers ALONE?? I plan my shopping at SAMS, cleaning supplies, big ticket items such as a food saver, small freezer, flat screen TV, etc... I go to SAMS specifically for things in bulk like rice, broths, and anything I can use in my food storage. If I am having a party, I head to Sams for the food, they have a great selection, one stop shopping for everything, no running around to 3 different stores and looking for bargains. There are even some products I will ONLY buy at SAMS. I will admit though, I need to be careful, if I ever OD the checkbook, it will be while shopping at SAMS

  • Oh and its really just the two of us because dd is 6 months bought we've been buying our groceries there for a couple years now. We can go a month or more without buying most food except eggs/milk/lettuce/bread!

  • Ive been going to Costco for years. Average about 200-230 a month. Thats all of meats, veggies, paper products, laundry, diswasher, razors and couple of misc things I cant think of now. It pays to portion things out and freeze them. Then I spend about 75 at Giant (for every 100 bucks you spend you get .10 cent off gas) So my food bill for the month is 550-600. I use coupons too. Cant seem to get it any cheaper than that. I want us to eat healthy and this is the only way I can do it.

  • a lot of stuff is a better value, but things like cereal, diapers, and OTC meds aren't worth it b/c Sam's sells A LOT of name brand products in bulk, when you can go to wal mart and buy off brand cheerios or Luvs diapers for much less than Huggies or actual Cheerios at Sam's.

  • It's just the two of us too and we shop at Sam's Club for toilet paper, paper towels, razors, dish soap, hand soap, shampoo, diapers, wipes, chips and other snacks.

We don't really use it for food because there is no way just the two of us would be able to finish it before the expiration date
