Do Catholics

use birth control like condoms and the pill? Or are they against it completely?

  • Church teachings say not to use them, but many Catholics violate that teaching.

  • We dont go against it completely just like other religions we are told to stay virgins untill marrage bla blah .Alot of woman now and day are on the pill just to regulate the period .We are also told to take care of our body we are the one who really know how this is done with our relious .i

  • They are supposed to be against it. Because sex is for reproduction and reproduction only in Catholism.

  • Actually, the Catholic Church teaches that God gave married couples this wonderful gift of sex for two purposes - procreation and unification. These purposes are so interwinded that they can't be separated. Our fertility is a gift from God and it's not something we should just throw away because we don't like it.

    So artifical birth control goes against God's purpose for sex and His gift of fertlity to us. That includes condoms and the pill. And so Catholics should not use these methods - however many do ingore or don't understand the church's teachings about this and do use artifical birth control.

  • Actually until 1930 all Protestant denominations agreed with the Catholic Church about condeming artifical birth control and contraception as sinful. I don't know why they think God changed his mind.
