What is the difference between corn syrup and high fructose corn syrup?

Are they equally bad for you?

  • The difference is one has more sugar content than the other. To much of anything can be bad for you. But like most products in todays markets always read the labels.

  • It's the structure of the sugar and how easily it assimilates into your body. Fructose isn't bad, but corn syrup solids with added fructose is a common preservative used in colas and most beverages. Try to stay away from it.. The particles in corn syrup are slightly bigger in corn syrup.. so it's not as bad.

  • High fructose (which is a basically corn sugar) is in higher concentrations in the corn syrup so it's sweeter. What disturbs me about corn syrup is imagine the process and the chemicals it must take to get sugar or oil for that matter out of corn!
