Does your child eat peanuts?

Straight from the shell? Aspiration is a risk but that can really happen with anything they're chewing right? My parents think we should stop letting him eat nuts.

  • My guy loves cashews, he's been eating them since about 2.5. He's not a big peanut fan but if he were I'd be happy to let him eat them.

  • Both of my kids eat all sorts of nuts. They are 2yo and 4yo. They both chew very well and have never choked. If your child is fine eating nuts, then let him.

  • Yes, both in and out of the shell. Why not?

  • My oldest was eating peanuts at three, but nuts were a ltitle bit later. No real reason. We just didn't have them in the house very often. lol

My current 3 year old has eaten peanuts and nuts and done well with them. Both boys love them! (mixed nuts are a new favorite)

Just make sure he's sitting down and not up walking around where it's more of a choking hazard.

  • It's not choking so much as aspiration into the lungs. My grandma's sister died from a peanut in the lung and my mother's cousin almost did--he was eating them at a hospital while visiting a family member-aspirated it, coughed & coughed and they had to put him under and suck the peanut from his lung.

  • I am not big on nuts for the kids, but I am sure their dad has let them have some.

  • He's plenty big to chew up a peanut. My kid loves them.
