how much game time?

16 years old, mediocre grades, no after school activities, poor attention keeping. he goes to tutoring 2 times a week, but has video game addiction! from the time he gets off the bus till we make him go to bed.we have recently changed his daily time allowance to 2 hrs. how long would you let him on schooldays and weekends?

  • I think 2 hours is reasonable. It's enough time to get into and finish a game but not so much that it is all of his free time.

  • No one should be spending all their free time playing video games. Kids need to do lots of other things like see friends and relatives, go outside, read, exercise and help around the house. Perhaps you can invite him along when you do errands, or go to the movies, shopping, go for a walk, take up an outside activity or school club, volunteer. 2 hours a day should be the maximum allowed.

  • yeah. i don't want him on games all the time. but as soon as you turn them off, he won't do anything. big attitude problem. its not worth the fight to make him go on errands. i think he needs to get a job
