  • I only have one child, and she was induced so I really have nothing to compare it to. But I didn't think it was to bad. I want another child someday and I would go the induction route again if I had to, so I guess it could have been worse. I also had an epidural, and that helped A LOT!

  • I was induced, but because my epi was too powerful, they cut it off. Let me tell you that for me, it hurt like hell.

  • I have only been induced but from what I have been told by moms who have had both experiences being induced will give you stronger and closer together contractions. However when you are induced they can pretty much give you an epidural at any time rather than having to wait until you have progressed enough and possibly missing their chance.

  • both children i went into labor with were induced... i had an epidural with both.. with the 1st baby, i was at a hospital that i wasnt too impressed with and they had a poor way of delivering a baby... with this last pregnancy, i was induced at 4am had an epidural at 7am-ish... my water broke at 8:15 and i felt ALOT of pressure (the epidural will help with pain, but when the baby is moving further down the birth canal you fell the pressure) and from the epidural to the point of delivery at 8:39am i felt NO contractions or pain... so it's different with each pregnancy, but with both of them, i remember the pain, but i also remember is was deffinately bareable

  • As you can see from these answer everyone is different. My first one I went into natural labor after my water broke. Those contractions about killed me! They were 1minute apart until the end and they were 20-30 seconds apart. Thank goodness for Epi's! My second one was an induction and it was a breeze! I got my Epi around 6cm and then they broke my water. It was awesome. And I can tell you my contractions were not as hard from the report thing they take. But it is so different for everyone.

  • My sister had to be induced,

She said the pains were more frequent lasted longer....hurt a lil more than normal,

but it could have been because they were coming at her so fast,

  • Induction doesn't necessarily hurt more than going natural BUT it doesn't allow your body to progress at it's own state. Instead of being able to slowly warm up to the contractions they come on all of a sudden like a freight train.

  • With normal natural labor, the contractions start mild and pretty far apart, and your cervix dilates accordingly. With pitocin, which is the most prescribed drug in American, you will pretty much have one continuous contraction without a break. The cervix does not dilate with the contractions. What often happens is that the baby's heart gets into stress, and an emergency c-section is performed. At one hospital I know, there were recently 7 births in a two-hour period, and all seven were sections. This is not normal nor is it a good thing. Women who have been able to deliver their first child naturally fare somewhat better with second babies. It is much, much better to go into labor on your own and let things progress naturally.

  • My first child was natural, except for the epidural, and that was the easiest labor I ever had. I didn't even know my daughter had crowned until the doctor told me, lol. Now I was induced for my last 2 pregnancies. I had boys and I had never been in so much pain in my life. Now, I don't know if it was because I had boys and they wanted to take their sweet time to come out or if being induced had any affect on it. But, my epidural didn't work with them at all.
