How common are false negatives in HPT??

  • not very. those tests look for a hormone that's only produced when you're pregnant. so, unless you've recently miscarried or are taking some sort of hormones or fertility drugs, if it says positive, it's probably right. go get a blood test to double check.

  • i had 6 neg before i got a positve i was a little over 2 weeks late before i got a positive. so you can get a false negitive.

  • False negative happen all the time. Just usually cause you aren't far enough along for the test to catch it. Make sure it is first pee in the morning and best results come when you are 2 weeks late. But the earliest it can detect a pregnancy hormone is 10 days along. Approx. 4 days before your missed period. If it is still neg when you are 2 weeks late got to the doc.

    Do your research hun. You are incorrect. You body only produces HCG (the hormone the test detects) when you are pregnant. So you will NEVER get a false positive. Unless, of course, you had just suffered a miscarriage.
