Do you think an almost 3 year old is too young to learn to snorkel?

My son will be three in June this year. He love the pool and the beach but cannot swim yet. He is very independent with arm floats or life vest and can swim around the pool by himself while wearing these. I am thinking about getting him a snorkel set and letting him try them out in the pool and then maybe venturning out to the beach so he can snorkel with me. Has anyone else let a child this young snorkel? Do you think it is too young?

  • He probably can start to learn. My son learned to really swim and swan dive at 4. So, I'm sure with help yours can at 3. Maybe not perfect, but, he can try.
