Solid food, 6 month old not liking it

My 6 month old girl just doesn't like baby food I've tried cereal , applesauce, pears, bananas and she just doesn't seem to like it. She won't even open her mouth, but she knows how to swallow it cause once it's in there she'll eat it but the trouble is getting it inside her mouth. Any suggestions? I would really appreciate it. It would help bunches :)

  • wait a week or two and try again. there isn't a law stating a baby must eat baby food by X age.

  • It sounds like she may not be quite ready for solids yet, not all babies are ready at 6 months.

Babies who are ready for solids can usually feed themselves. Mothers often report that they knew their babies were ready when they picked up food from a plate, chewed it, swallowed it, and wanted more.

Listen to your baby! Babies with a tendency to allergies may refuse solids until later in their first year. As long as they are growing well and are happy and healthy, there is no need for concern.

  • Sounds like she's not ready. She'll get there though! My daughter didn't eat solid foods until 10 months. When she reached for my food, I knew she was ready!

  • Just wait. Offer kindly. No forcing or pushing. She doesn't need solids til after a year anyway. So if she doesn't want it, don't worry.
