Black Stools

I was brushing my teeth yesterday while my daughter was using the bathroom, and I noticed her stool was black. Is that because she's dehydrated?

  • Black usually means blood, could she have a GI problem?

  • If not internal bleeding, up high (belly), then it can be from food dyes or products. Pepto Bismal will sometimes do that too.

  • has she been coughing lately?
if so ask her if she knows what blood tastes like if so ask her if she tastes blood when she eats, drinks or coughs.
if so she probably has a tare in her throat causing blood to flow in her BMs. no big deal it will pass.
