Do you try to be courteous when ordering from fast food/Drive thrus?

I think that some people are rude without even realizing you do any of the following? If so, did you consider that it was rude to the people working?
-Pull up and talk on your cell phone instead of ordering
-Just place your order without answering the question "how are you?" (If they ask.)
-Smoke by the drive thru window
-Order something else when you get up to the window?
-just be a grumpy brat in general?

  • There's this Burger King around my way and the people there are ghetto as hell. Sometimes I get so mad with them that ill order a shitload of food then drive off. It doesn't make no sense how they just don't give a damn. And they slow as molasses,

  • I worked at a fastfood restaurant for a while. I'm courteous because most fast food places evaluate employees on the speed of service. They have three minutes to get the customer out of the drive thru. They even have a clock that measures the speed.

  • Well, I try to be courteous to anyone I come in contact with. But I agree that everything you listed is really rude and far too common.

  • I try to be courteous to everyone. Poor cell phone etiquette is a particular peeve of mine.

  • Well, the fast food places are so ghetto around here. Sometimes you sit at the speaker for a few minutes before anyone even speaks and then they are ALWAYS out of something. How do you run out of lettuce and tomatoes at Taco Bell. How does Wendy's run out of chicken nuggets. And cheese, how does any fast food place run out of cheese??? I try my best to stay away from those places, because it is so unhealthy anyway. I don't care if I may seem rude anymore. Every time we would go and be sweet as pie, we'd realize half way down the road, they forgot a whole meal or something. I guess if I was making minimum wage, I wouldn't be too worried about doing my job right. This is why I worked in fast food in high school and will never do that again.

  • I'm always kind, because first of all I am kind by nature and second of all, I don't want anybody messing with my food, you know!

I must say before I had children I was a smoker and I smoked like a chimney, so I'm sure I always pulled up puffing away, but this was in 98 the rules have changed sooo much since then. I used to smoke in restaurants then too!

  • I treat them the same as anyone else. :) They are making a living just as I am. I can see how the cell phone thing would happen, and yes it is rude. They shouldn't be talking on the cell phone when driving anyway, so maybe they've just been in line a long time. But regardless, when they are at the window they should give their order immediately. About the greeting thing, I always respond politely and also ask them how they are doing, which sometimes startles them, :)
