  • they go in you and touc h and go round in circles.. on the membranes or something i had it done i went into labor 6 hours later..

  • The dr puts his finger into your cervix and runs it around the inside of your cervix, which seperates the amniotic sac from the inside of your uterus. (It is already doing this on it's own, slowly.) This sometimes brings on labor. Sometimes not.

  • What riot said.
    I'd like to also say that it is not necessary, and you can tell them not to do it.
    The only reason it is done is for trying to induce labor (or to "get things moving") and that is not good for babies either, let baby decide when he or she wants to join you!
