  • Be careeful when in the bath tub so he water doesn't get in hears, wear hats outside til the medicine is gone / as long as its cold and windy out and make sure to finish the medicine! My son gets these all the time, after a day and half of being on the medicine he acts like his normal self.

  • Kaylee (11 months) just got over a double ear infection (brought on by her chest cold that lasted 3 weeks - ugh!) After 3 days on the antibiotics she was feeling much better - still taking longer naps than usual, but the rest of it (fever, discomfort) was gone.

You aren't going to do any harm by taking him out or letting him enjoy Easter. Just be aware that he may tire more easily than usual because his body is still trying to get back on track.

  • Yes, if he is up to it he can go to Grandmas. Make sure if he is outside he uses sunscreen as some antibiotics will make you burn easier.
Nodding at the previous poster, no water in ears. Make sure he takes the medicines even if he feels better. If he is in pain he can take pain meds but ask mom first as she may already be giving something for pain.
Don't tip him backwards (as in play) or swing may cause more pain. But let him take the lead on that and he should be able to do whatever he is capable of. Also, he may be more tired until the antibiotics kick in.

  • Drugs are all he should need. Ear infections are not contagious, so he can go out and have fun. After a day or so of antibitoics, he'll be feeling fine again and you won't realize he's sick.

Also, keep in mind that ear infections are caused by bacteria growth *inside* the ear. So baths and the like can contiue as usual. Swimmers ear is cuased by water left on the outside of the ear.

My dd has had ear infections her whole life (almost 2 years) so we're looking into tubes now. LIke I said, just keep doing what you usally due and he'll feel better after a few treatments of meds.

  • Stop trashing his immune system with antibiotics and take him to a chiropractor.

  • Time and pain meds will help him feel better. Yes, he can go to Grandma's for Easter. He's not contagious, just unhappy.
Make sure she gives the antibiotics exactly as prescribed. He'll feel better LONG before they are all gone but she MUST finish out the prescription. Stopping it early will only lead to a worse infection in the future.
