It is rare but possible. If you do get pregnant with an IUD in place, you need to see a doc ASAP. They will need to remove the IUD. Leaving it in place can cause serious problems for you and baby. There is a miscarriage risk, but there are much bigger risks the longer it stays in. They will also want to do an ultrasound to make sure it is not an ectopic pregnancy because these are somewhat more likely with an IUD in place.
I got pregnant in Feb with an IUD in place. It was removed at 4 weeks, a few cramps but no bleeding and no miscarriage. The ultrasound showed a normal pregnancy. I am 9 weeks now and everything is going fine.
