  • We saw the heartbeat at 9 weeks and heard it for the first time at 12 weeks for just a brief second. Heard it better at the 16 week appointment.

  • I went at 9 weeks and heard it on the ultra sound. For a doplar ( the hand held heart monitor) I believe its 12 weeks at the earliest and its still hard to find as it picks up your heartbeat as well.

  • A fetal heartbeat is generally not heard on a doppler until about 10 weeks or more. They can be seen on an ultrasound earlier, though.

  • About 5 weeks if you are really lucky, but definitely around 6-7 weeks at the latest.

  • I heard my first baby's heartbeat on an ultrasound at 7 weeks. This time, I didn't get an ultrasound until I was about 10 weeks, and heard my next baby's heartbeat then.

  • Like the others, I saw it before I heard it. I saw it at 7 weeks during an ultrasound, and I heard it for the first time at 12 weeks with my home doppler. Now I hear it every night! It's really quite thrilling! :)

  • I believe you can SEE a heartbeat on the ultrasound around 6wks, and they say 10wks for the hand held doppler, but I heard my son's heartbeat with the doppler at my very first pre-natal appointment when I was 9wks. =]
