Wedding Recption Question??

If the grooms parents are paying for the reception how do you word the invites?? They are reception only invites because the wedding is at city hall with only parents and siblings. what to do??

  • Word it like... Marriage Celebration Reception for friends and extended family. Well, thats kind of long. Theres really no need to explain the whole thing unless they ask.

  • mr and mrs blah blah invite you to a reception celebrating the marriage of their son to blah blah (and if they are ok with you including your parents names) daughter of mr and mrs blah blah. that way the fact that they are paying is implied and if you and them want your parents names on it you can include it, if not just knock out the daughter of part

  • OH ONE MORE THING...DO I USE MY NAME NOW OR THE MARRIED NAME SINCE THE WEDDING IS MAY 1 ST AND RECEPTION IS MAY 2 ND AND THE INVITES WILL GO OUT THIS WEEK

  • I'd use probably go with Mr. and Mrs. (His parents) Invite you to join in celebrating the union of (Groom, including last name) and (your name, using madein name).

  • I like the way vabchmommy worded it, this way your guests realize it's a reception, not the wedding taking place at the reception hall. I got married in the backyard, had reception next day, some people who rsvp'd said they would come to the ceremony, but not stay for the reception - i forgot how mine was worded.
