how do i know if its false labor (braxton hicks)

so i got an email today...talking about braxton hicks contractions. and i had asked a question earlier about painful sex and my belly getting hard? and someone mentioned contrations? so is that maybe wat it is? how do i know?

  • If you have an orgasm you will contract its normal. Real contractions get stronger, last longer and move closer together no matter what. They go from your belly to your back. If you lay down for an hour or 2 and it stops then its just braxton hicks. Drink water and rest if its stops its false if it continues and gets stronger its real. Contracts during and after sex are normal.

  • ok thanks! the feeling i get is just the fact that my belly gets really hard! but thats normal? it dont last long or anything. just almost annoying! lol i just figured that baby didnt like all the movement?

  • When you have sex, you release that wonderful hormone oxytocin (also sometimes known as the love hormone) which will cause your uterus to contract; as will orgasming.

  • Those sound like contractions to me and the way to tell if they are BH or for real is to lay down and rest and if they go away they are BH, if not then it is the real thing. Ans yes sex can cause contractions. That is part of the reason they say to have lots of sex if you are overdue.
