How much...

I am a first time mom to a sweet little 3week old baby boy and I am just wondering how much formula I should be giving him. He is eating about 4 ounces every three hours. When should I give him more and how much?

  • Sounds like he's eating just enough. Any more might make him too full, fussy, or spit up. I would increase it when he starts killing the 4 oz. and still hungry for more. Good luck and Congrats on your new bundle of joy!

  • Its all about demand. When he starts finishing his bottle and still acts hungry, or you notice he gets hungry more often, it may be time to add an ounce to his bottle and see how he does.

  • He will let you know when he wants more. Usually follows in the form of crying.

  • 4oz about every 2-4 hours is a good amount for that age, like everyone here has said, he will let you know if he wants more. he probably won't need much of an increase until 3-6 months though
