How soon before your child's birthday party do you send out invitations?

This is a cross posting from the preschoolers section. Thought I might get more of a response here.

  • Usually 3 to 4 weeks so everyone has a chance to get them and RSVP. Just incase some are away or on vacation. Usually no more than 6 weeks ahead of time. You always want to give the mail man extra time.

  • My kids are in grade school and I like to send them at least a week in advance? How soon do you like to receive an invite before the actual event?

  • Hi!

I usually aim for 7-10 days before the fete. I think the Emily Post thing is 2-weeks, but I never seem to make that happen. With a week in advance, scheduling isn't a problem unless the birthday is around a holiday. Another option is to call instead of sending invites, too.
    Happy partying!
