  • if you're supplementing, why not? when i weaned my daughter, i gave her a whole milk mixed with breast milk. and then slowly increased the amount of whole milk till it was all whole milk. 'cause you're going to transition your child from breast milk to infamil to whole milk? just skip the middle step.

  • IMO it's a waste of money. Your baby can go straight from breastmilk to whole milk, cold turkey, at 12 months. If your baby is weaning now, you should give regular formula, but if you wait till 12 months or later, no reason to "transition."

  • if your baby is breastfed that is all your baby should drink. Of course infanmil would say that-they make money if you use it. I would continue nursing and skip the man made crap.

  • I'm sure it's not going to kill her or anything, but why not just continue to breastfeed for two more months?

  • yessss its fine.. im bfing and lately i havent been able to keep up with my 7mo dds needs (pumping during work, school, etc) so i supplement with similac advance.. dont beat yourself up about it and dont let other people badger you about "the man made crap"- other babies drink formula and are just fine.

  • It is fine if you want to give it to her. Just keep in mind that it is an artificial substitute for breastmilk. If you want her to have a good nutrient dense food with lots of vitamins, breastmilk is better. Any formula you give will likely replace breastmilk she would get. Like the PP said, you can go straight from breastmilk to cows milk at 12 months old, you don't need to transition with a formula.
I have to give credit to the formula company, ,that is a really good gimick to get an exclusively breastfeeding mom to give her baby formula to "help transition them to whole milk". What will they come up with next!

  • UGH why would you give her something concocted in a lab...full of all kinda of CRAZY ingredients to get her used to something else....you've BF her with no formula all this time just to contaminate her tummy with it NOW...seriously???
THIS is why you shouldn't use formula when its not needed
