Sarkozy mocks Obama

Thomas Lifson
It is almost as rare for a head of state to mock another head of state as it is for one to bow down before the other. Barack Obama has already featured in both forms of extraordinary behavior.

A pro-American French blog Sérum de Liberté highlights the French press report for us :

According the French newspaper L'Express, Nicolas Sarkozy criticized Barack Obama.

  • Nicolas Sarkozy criticized the Obama's popularity : "Journalists have no memory! In 2000, George W. Bush was so popular that Jacques Chirac had arranged to dine with him before he was inaugurated. " The French President, who will host his U.S. counterpart on the beaches of Normandy on 6 June for the 65th anniversary of the Normandy Landing, is ironical about "obamania": "I will ask him to walk on the Channel, and he will... " I clearly remember the promise that Barack Obama would restore respect for America overseas. It doesn't seem to be working in France. Don't hold your breath waiting for the American media to report this.

  • Yes, they are happy amongst themselves! Forget we saved their butts during the war, maybe they are humiliated? Who knows. Maybe they thought Louis Pasteur was better than anyone else. Enjoy France, ignore the French.

  • To be honest... I worked in Yosemite Nat'l Park for 6 yrs and the French were the rudest people I served. The most polite were the English and the Aussies!
Pity I have some french heritage lol ( related to the 3 of the signers of the Magna Carta, they were french nobles)

  • Why move there it's almost like Obama's change is taking us there. The Frenchies just think we are a joke now with no identity.

  • Sarkozy is a conservative, and the French are quite snooty-in general, so I'm not surprised. And Bush was NEVER popular.
