Do you ever really run a fever?

My normal body temperature is not 98.6--it's more like 96.5 to 97, so even when I am really sick, I hardly ever run a huge fever. If I am feeling really nasty, I might be at 99.5 or 100. Does anyone else do this too? Do doctors believe you when you tell them this? Mine doesn't.

  • Adults don't usually run fevers real high until they are really, really sick

I had strep throat a few years ago and had a 101-102 fever and that is awful unusal for me. My temp is like 97.2.

  • When I was little I would get very high fevers every time I got sick usually in the 104 or 105 range. I haven't had a fever in years.

  • Actually, I hardly EVER run a fever. I don't think I ever even get to 99. My normal body temp is about 97.1 so if I am at 99, then I feel like garbage. I think in the last 10 yrs, I have run a fever maybe 3 times. I can be very sick, but I just don't usually run a fever with it.

  • My normal temp is in the low 97's... doctors believe me, why wouldn't they?

But when I get really sick I still run a fever in the 102-104 range.

  • My body temp, as well as my husband and my daughters, runs low. Like 96-97. When I am sick, if I have a 100 temp, I am bad! My doctor understands!
