If an infant has reflux does that mean their immune system is weaker than most?

  • No, it typically means their digestive system is still immature. Other reasons children may have or develop reflux are that a child has a physical birth defect in the digestive tract, a neurological disorder or disease such as CP, or a child may have a milk protein allergy or intolerance, etc.

  • Not always. My son had it because the flap between his esophagus and stomach wasn't fully developed so food didn't stay down. It corrected itself within a few months after birth. If you are really worried, talk to the doc.
