How much did your 9 month old weigh?

My DS only weighs 19 lbs. He looks healthy, and eats healthy. It just shocked me because I thought he was surely 23-25 lbs. How much is normal for them to be gaining in a week or month? When he was born he was only 6lbs even, and 19 inches long.

  • Mine was almost 16 pounds. I'm sure you have nothing to worry about if he is developing normally and not losing weight. They stop gaining so much once they start crawling and moving around alot.

  • It's not always about their weight, there would be a problem if you baby wasn't gaining any weight or was staying the same. Most peds use a chart to see what percentile your child's in, and if they are not voicing a concern then there is no reason for you to be. :) my son weighed 7lbs 2.5oz 19.24"long and at 9 months he weighed about 13lbs. Here's a website that can tell you what percentile he is in, if you want to monitor this. http://pediatrics.about.com/cs/growthcharts2/a/percentiles.htm

  • My DD is 9 months also & she weighs 18lb (and she was 9lb 7.5oz at birth). So your son has definitely gained adequate weight.
The main thing I would look at is if he is eating and drinking well, and happy and developing well. That really matters more than his weight. But he seems fine to me.

  • my DD was around 10 pounds at 9 months but she was only 3 pounds 11 oz when she was born and she had feeding issues. my son is 8and a half months and weighs about 25 pounds. her was about 7 pounds when he was born, he's just a really good eater. the funny part is that my now almost 3 dd is also 25 pounds. too bad they not the same gender they could share clothes.

  • At 9 months my son was 18 lbs. He has always been extremely tall and slender. He was long when he was born, and he is still very tall now. Today is his first birthday, but people always ask if he is between 18months and 2 years because he is so tall. I know 2 year olds that he is taller than.

  • 23 to 25 pounds? Your socked that they don't way that much? That is normal for your child. My DD is 15 months and 22 pounds. if they were 23 to 25 pounds at 9 months old think about how big they would be at my child's age.............My sister's DS is going to be 9 months on the 22nd and he is 18 pounds he may be about 19 about now though
