  • Is there a LLL group anywhere near you? You can go to and the ladies there are amazing and very helpful!. My Ob Dr wouldn't help with my daughters latch.

  • From here you can search and see if there is a LLL group near you

  • Find a La Leche League leader. She will help you. You can find your local group and leaders at there is also a 24 hour hotline that you can call. You can also try WIC. I would try LLL first, though. Good luck.

  • Do you know anyone who has nursed before? Friend or family member who could help you out?

Answer by keyaziz at 8:49 AM on Apr. 17, 2009

  • There's usually someone at the hospital who can help.

  • It depends on whether or not that OB knows anything about breastfeeding. I agree with finding your local La Leche League.

  • Some might, some won't. Mine was about as helpful as a broken window. If you can't find a consultant through the sites others have mentioned, try the L&D nurses at the hosptial.

  • Most doctors are not very informed when it comes to breastfeeding.
Try your local La Leche League, like other moms here have suggested.

  • Some Doctors know about breastfeeding, but MOST know VERY LITTLE! Call a local La Leche League Leader. She will help you for free! You can also submit a private help form online. Go to and click on "ask a question"

  • My old OB helped me a little in the hospital. The nurses in my kids dr's office helped too. My daghters ped. office has two lactaion consultants in th eoffice all the time.
If you need help your OB or ped. office should be able to suggest someone if they can't help you.
