For breastfeeding mothers, how old was your LO when your menstrual cycle returned?

My DD is 9 months old, and I have a very strong feeling that mine is back on it's way!! Oh well, can't be so lucky forever I guess :)
(And I am still breastfeeding, but she is having solids also, so the breastfeeds have slowly decreased)

  • Six weeks both times... while EXCLUSIVELY breastfeeding. I guess this gets me some sort of good karma or something, I'm still waiting for the payoff.

  • Almost 12 months, she was still getting about 90% of her daily nutrition from breastmilk, she wasn't eating much food.

  • After my oldest son it came back at 4 months post partum. Blah! lol
After my daughter I never had a post partum period, but I ovulated at 8 months... I know this because I got pregnant with my son ;-)
After my (youngest) son it came back at 10 months post partum.

  • with #1 it was 13 months and 2 cycles later I was pregnant. With #2 it was about 15 months. Everyone is different, but if you nurse on demand and don't use pacifiers it tends to make it last longer.

  • Six weeks. And I was only breastfeeding. I called my doctor freaking out lol. The nurse said I was one of the "lucky" few who continue to get periods while breastfeeding.

  • Funny, Lizafur13, my nurse said I was one of the "unlucky" few. I guess I did feel lucky when I was able to get pregnant while BF since I wanted to, but still... I could have used a few months off!
