heavy pregnancy=big baby?

For my last two pregnancies I have gained 30 and 35 pounds, and my babies weighed 5 1/2 and 6 1/2 pounds. My sister gained 65 pounds, and had a 9 pound baby. My MIL gained 85 pounds, and had a 10 1/2 pound baby. So is it true that the more weight you gain, the bigger your baby will be?

  • I gained around 40lbs with my first and he was 8lbs 15oz. It's possible i guess, part of the weight gain is from the baby.

  • I don't think so. I didn't really gain any weight and my baby was 7lbs 8oz, so if that were true my baby would have been like 1lb.

  • in my pregnancies the most wait I gained was my last and it was my smallest baby. With that pregnancy I gained 42 pounds and that baby weighed 7 lbs 8 ozs at birth.

  • One has nothing to do with the other.

I gained 65lbs with my first, he was only 8lbs 9oz.

I gained 35lbs with my second, he was only 9lbs 5oz

I gained 25 with my third, he was only 7lbs at 36 weeks (born early)
