which do you go by

When giving your baby tylenol or motrin do you go by weight or age? For instance DD is 9mos and weighs (at her last check up) 20lbs 5oz....do you go by weight or age?

  • Weight. I think its the full dropper. My daughter is 7 months and our doctor said the .08 or whatever the highest dose is. If its infant medicine.

  • I go by what my doctor said. She told me to just buy childrens tylenol and gave me the dosage amount that I should give him for his age and weight. Why waste money on baby tylenol when the bigger bottle of childrens is cheaper.

  • Weight. Not all babies weigh the same at the same age. One baby's dose at 6 months could be an overdose for another.

  • oh, and for the anon suggestion on Infant Tylenol vs childrens... they aren't the same concentration and the dose would not be the same... and you would likely go through it just as fast because the children dose is a larger volume - 5 ml vs 1 ml
