how do i get my 10 week old daughter to enjoy tummy time?

When she was younger everytime we would put her on her tummy she would atleast lift her head and move it around so she could breathe. But now when we put her on her tummy all she does is lay there even if she cant breathe and then she will start screaming.. =\

  • Just keep doing it, don't give up. Limit tummy time to 5 minute intervals and do it 2-3 times a day.

Another way to get tummy time in is to lay her on her tummy on your chest. She will lift her head to try to look at you, and it really helps strengthen those neck muscles to help her when she is on the floor.

No worries though - she will scream cause she is on her belly and wants to be on her back. Then when she is on her back (a little later on) she will scream because she is trying to roll over and be on her belly. And 30 seconds after she makes it to her belly she will scream because she can't get back over onto her can't win until she is 4-5 months old and rolling over by herself, lol.

  • That probably means that she is not ready for it yet. Some babies enjoy it right away and others it takes months for them to like it, if it all. I wouldn't push her on it.

  • My daughter hated being on her belly and now at 11 months old she will hold her head up and get on her hands and knees rock back and forth but crawling is out of the question. She butt scuts, just keep working with her do tummy time a few times a day.
