How Do I Get My 2 Year Old To Quit Putting Too Much Food In Her Mouth & Choking Herself?

MY 2 Year old Always Puts Way Too Much Food in Her Mouth And She Chokes Herself. I Tried Cutting It Up Into Small Pieces But then She Just Puts More Of The Food In Her Mouth.

  • Limit what you put on her plate. Only give her a few bites at a time. If she doesn't have a lot of food then she cant shovel it all in at once.

  • Ditto what the others said. And you have to establish a chewing "time" so if you want her to chew for 20 seconds then swallow ect. We had to do that with our son with sensory issues.

  • Keep reminding her to take little bites, go slow. Give her small amounts at a time.

  • They all go through the squirrel stage. This is one of the reasons why parents are told to take child first aid and CPR when they are expecting. Limit what she gets. Explain to her why you are doing this and tell her when she can behave like a big girl she will get a regular dish of food like the rest of the family.
