  • Put a sleeping wedge so he can't get over onto his stomach. He will be fine. My daughter slept on her side from the time she was 2 weeks old as no other way made her happy.

  • My daughter was rolling to her side from day one. She has never liked sleeping on her back. She's sleeps on her stomach every night now.

  • You should always put them down on their backs. any other way increase the risks of sids.

  • You have to decide what you feel better doing with your own children.

Mine had to be on their tummies to sleep. They would also spit up in their sleep on their backs and CHOKE on the spit up. Not all babies turn their heads when they spit up.

  • The research on SIDS and the position of sleeping babies has varied just about every ten years....front, back, side, you name it there's research to support all of them. Unfortunately NO research has been done in a manner that gives us a solid clinical conclusion. If your baby is rolling to the side themselves, then their bodies are probably ok to sleep in that position. Always start your baby out on their backs, but if they roll to their sides or on their tummy by themselves, then they are probably ok. The risk of using a wedge is that the child's torso muscles will not develop properly and they will be delayed in sitting up unless you are actively working with them.
